Snowmobiling in Idaho

If you have never been snowmobiling, have not been in a while, or know just how much fun it can be, then you need to consider planning a vacation that centers around this exciting winter outdoor recreational activity. We think that there may be no better way to ride off road on the snow and ice. And if you are looking for a great place to snowmobile either in these remaining days of winter or next season, then why not circle Idaho as a potential travel destination?

Idaho has over 7,200 miles of snowmobiling trails (more than any other western state in the U.S.) just waiting for you! With 29 grooming programs, its trails are bound to please the rookie to the more experienced snowmobilers. Plus, Idaho also has countless acres of open land to cruise in your snowmobile—moving in and out of forest areas, down slopes, and amidst some pretty amazing scenery.

If you have never been on a snowmobile before, then Idaho’s state park system offers a wide variety of classes across the state. For your safety and understanding of the area in which you will be riding (especially avalanche safety concerns), we recommend that you look into these classes. Even if you have been snowmobiling before, brushing up on some safety tips and getting the lay of the land is always a good idea. Check out the ID Parks and Recreation website to get more details and safety info. Also, be sure to check out the current conditions in the area in which you will be riding to make sure it is safe to do so, even if you plan to travel on groomed trails.

Like many of us, you may not own your own snowmobile, especially if you live in areas that get little to no snow. Or you may simply not want to lug your snowmobile to Idaho. Either way, we’ve got you covered. You can rent snowmobiles in Cascade, Idaho. Most rentals come with options, including whether you want a one- or two-person sled and how many days you plan to rent your machine. Depending on what type of riding you want to do, you can also choose from trail or mountain performance snowmobiles. All that to say, finding a snowmobile rental in Cascade, Idaho will not be a problem and shouldn’t hinder you from booking a snowmobiling vacation in ID.

Because you can find snowmobile trails all over Idaho, you also have a variety of places at which you can lodge. Many resorts, cabins, and other accommodations welcome snowmobilers and will be more than welcome to help make your time in Idaho exciting and inviting. We recommend that you check out the Lake Cascade area, because they have a lot more to offer in terms of winter play options than snowmobiling trails.

But no matter where you decide to put down temporary residence during your stay in Idaho, you are bound to have a good time plowing your way through snowy drifts, gliding effortlessly on frozen lakes, and  zipping across open plains on your ID snowmobile.
