A “Sporty” Weekend Getaway to Indianapolis, IN

Sad that the World Series has come to an end? Maybe what you need an action-packed, sports-centric Indiana vacation to boost your spirits. With the major league baseball season coming to a close, most sporting enthusiasts (including Indiana natives and visitors to IN) turn their dials to the football and basketball games that have already kicked off across the nation. But who wants to just plop in the recliner and watch the big game from home? Not us! (And we’re assuming you don’t want to, either.)

What better way to get into the action firsthand than to head for Indianapolis, IN (a mecca for football and basketball fans across the heartland). Indiana’s capital city, Indianapolis, is known for its sports teams and attractions, especially NFL Super Bowl champs the Indianapolis Colts.

Before you even leave home, we recommend that you first secure yourself tickets to both an Indianapolis Colts and Indiana Pacers home game. Because both teams are located in downtown Indianapolis, IN, you can easily make both big games in one trip, especially if you book an Indianapolis RV rental that can help you stay mobile. And you will not be disappointed: From the concession food to the sports memorabilia, both venues have much to offer sports fans (not a bad seat in either house!).

If you’re flying into Indianapolis on or around game days for the Colts or the Indiana Pacers, note that game weekends can make downtown Indy a hectic place to find a hotel or other accommodations.  Why not take advantage of a first-class Indiana motorhome rental, perfect for families, couples, or even a guys or gals weekend away?

But professional sporting events are not the only draw to this Midwest metropolis. You can’t come into “Hoosier” territory without visiting the NCAA Hall of Champions, also located in downtown Indianapolis. On the edge of the White River State Park, this attraction is a must-visit for basketball fans of all ages.

And to complete your getaway, you need to be sure to put one of the following sports-themed restaurants on the menu:

  • Champs: Also located downtown Indy near the IN Circle Center Mall, this restaurant not only lets you take in all kinds of sporting events, but is also family friendly and has great food.
  • The Blue Crew: If the adults need a night out on the town or want to rub elbows with some hard-core Colts fans, then this sports bar is where you want to be, located just a short drive to the northeast side of Indianapolis.

So what are you waiting for? Book your IN sports weekend (or maybe longer!) today. This mini-vacation may even be a great Christmas gift for the sports fan in your life, so start planning now.
